Gruntovka 9-20 september 2010 GOLDEN POT Petr Maslov Curator - Bogdan Mamonov   3 july -1 august 2010 The Only Difference Curator - Ilya Dolgov Contemporary art is extremely dependant on institutions: they give it its status, set its limits, produce artists and display the objects. But there are examples of artists working outside institutions: only them and their audience. In this case all duties are performed by those involved: the community of artists. They support, criticize and represent art in society. A group of young artists and intellectuals formed in Voronezh in 2005-9. The group was united by shared ideas, projects and a common context (Arseniy Zhilyaev, Ivan Gorshkov, Ilya Dolgov, Nikolai Alekseev, Michail Lylov, Maria Chekhonadskikh). The group evolved from arranging pure events in empty spaces to creating a local art-system. This particular case shows both a specific mode of interaction with environment (city, society, culture, business), and a certain abstract example of the creation and development of an art-system. Today, when “partnership” interaction is gradually falling under institutional influence, we enter a period of reflection. In a joint project, the artists reveal and explore various aspects of their history, combining a local story and a private example with the more versatile structures of the modern art world. Each artist illustrates aspects of this problem in their work. The project incorporates research combining single works into a dialogic unity.
