“Action” supporting theatre initiatives award in 2008
... a theatre that is flowing, fluid, able to spill from one space into another) may be one of the only theatres in Russia that works in the site-specific performance genre. The group's performances grow out of the territory that the actors occupy here and now. A new production does not require a written script but an impulse, a theme, a new spring that will inspire actors and push them into unexplored directions. Once they find themselves in opposite ends of the same space, they begin to create, remembering and perfecting their various skills and experience – dance, acrobatics, and dramatic art. Thus, blending the boundaries of street and physical theatre, LIQUID creates each of its new performances.
“…a theatre company with a universally understood name, LIQUID lives on the road between Moscow and Cheliabinsk. “LIQUID” - means “fluid” and “fluid” means a theatre that is able to fill spaces. Any spaces — theater pavilions ravaged by construction work, dusty factory floors, staircases and lobbies of theatres and museums, workshops of old paper mills. Step by step, LIQUID theatre captures city territory, breathes life into urban walls, and transforms manufacturing and city terrain into giant playgrounds for art. The work of the theater takes on a life-large meaning for each of the actors. To some cynical and tired Moscow dwellers LIQUID returns the gift of surprise. And to most others, it offers a chance to think outside the box and let go of old inhibitions“.

...has been put together of scenes and simple stories. Darkness and music in unusual uninhabitable space have become the circumstances to develop and lighten these scenes.
“The audience reacts in different ways some dance, some kiss and other watch the show in fear. However, when a light is smashed, fireworks are let off, or a girl with a serious face preserves flowers given to her by an admirer it is really hard to remain indifferent”.
MK newspaper, Moscow
“LIQUIDation, directed by Ksenia Petrenko and Aleksey Zherebtsov of Liquid Theatre. The performance, held in an abandoned warehouse, features an abundance of fire, which can’t be pulled off safely in any legal venue in the U.S., given legal and safety restrictions. “The spectacle was so exciting, and you actually feel like you could be in danger. There’s no way I could get away with doing that here unless it was some kind of guerrilla thing and we didn’t put it on our schedule.”
