|
“Liquid Sky” is the name of the famous movie by Slava Tsukerman, which means “heroin” in the American slang. This movie is about a girl from New York who is, roughly speaking, fed up with everything around her and who has a dream to run away from this reality. The question is “Where to go?”
Mysterious aliens kidnap people who feel orgasm: from heroin or sex. Finally, the girl comes out to the roof of a skyscraper that is the scene for main episodes, injects heroin and invites aliens to take her away. The girl disappears.
The project called “Liquid Sky” by Vika Begalskaya is an attempt to illustrate the feeling of loneliness, hard as heroin, desperate desire to “slip away”, supplication for help directed to somewhere in outer space.
Vika Begalskaya is a young artist, a participant of international exhibitions of contemporary art such as the World Visual Arts Biennale 2007 in Paris, ArtDigital-2005 and ArtDigital-2007 in Moscow. She works with such media as video, painting, performance, etc. Her works are regularly shown at the galleries in Belgium, France, Germany, Austria, Norway and Italy. Works by Vika Begalskaya are kept in many private and museum collections.
The project is included in a parallel program of the third Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art.
We are happy to invite you to the opening of the exhibition on September 20, 2009 at 19.00.
